The project“Building Body/ Building Identity” is a project of a collective exhibition involving 3 young artists from East-Europe, of a symposium and of an edition. BB/BI is based on the body as a vector of identities, a medium of social rituals and a witness of contemporary aesthetics.
BB/BI has 4 aims: participating to the visibility of young East-European artists in France/ questioning artistic and social representations of the body/ proposing a both relevant and understandable aesthetic/ networking and allowing a dialogue between the artists, the professionals & the audience.
THE BODY: SOCIAL OBJECT, ARTISTIC OBJECT
The contemporary Man avoids the body. He makes love trough the Internet, he polishes its skin to eliminate hairs and smells, shapes and genders. Interventions to shape or decorate the body have always existed (tattoos, corsets) but nowadays society seems to provide more aesthetics obligations linked to mentally compulsory images.
The body remains the physical link between the individual and the other members of the society, it remains the place where is negotiated a personal identity next to the social one and allows a visibility to these two identities. Then, we shape and transform our body not only considering the social rules but also taking into account our fantasies and the image of ourselves we wish to be seen.
“Building Body/Building Identity” proposes artistic installations involving sculpture, videos & photos to illustrate and go on these wonders.
PRESENTING YOUNG EST-EUROPEAN ARTISTS
It is obvious that the young creation in East-Europe is not only evolving but also bowling after having suffered from authoritarian regimes. However, these young artists remain under-represented in West-Europe although their artistic propositions & their wonders are highly relevant. Their works are worth to be shown and seen for themselves, beyond the prejudice of exoticism.
AN EXHIBITION, A SYMPOSIUM & AN EDITION
The exhibition, the symposium & meetings with the audience and the edition are three parts of the same project. The exhibition is a way to deal with the theme through plastic propositions, the catalogue will give a more theoretical approach of it and the meetings will allow a dialogue on the topics between the artists, some professionals and the local audience.

Ciprian Homorodean, Predrag Miladinovic and Maja Radanovic are 3 young artists with parallel speeches. Their works talk to each other. Indeed, the 3 artists have similar questionings and similar plastic language - a frontal aesthetic - expressed through the same medium (the installation.)
Ciprian Homorodean, Predrag Miladinovic and Maja Radanovic make concrete some both artistic and sociologic wonderings; they give through their works their own interpretations of these questionings adding their own visions of the world and some clues of their lives.
